TYPES OF CARPET
Twist
The most popular choice for general use. Durable, easy to clean and available in a huge range of colours. Works well in living rooms, bedrooms and hallways.
Loop / Berber
A textured, relaxed look that’s particularly hardwearing. Great for stairs and high-traffic areas, and available in wool and synthetic options.
Velvet / Saxony
A smooth, luxurious finish that works beautifully in bedrooms and lower-traffic rooms. Worth knowing that it shows footprints and vacuum marks — part of the charm for some, a consideration for others.
Flatweave
A natural, contemporary look that works particularly well as a stair runner. Options include sisal-style and herringbone weaves.
STAIR CARPET & RUNNERS
We’re particularly experienced in stair installations — from straightforward straight flights to winder and kite staircases, curved steps and open staircases. Whether you want wall-to-wall carpet or a runner with a stair rod, we’ll advise on the best approach for your staircase.
All of our carpets can be made into custom-size rugs and runners through our carpet whipping and taping service. Most carpet types can be whipped; those with a latex backing such as sisal are more suited to tape. Both options give a clean, professional edge.
Wool or synthetic — which is right for you?
Wool is hardwearing, naturally resilient and flame retardant. It holds its shape well over time and is a sustainable, natural material — ideal if longevity and quality are the priority.
Synthetic (polypropylene, polyester, nylon) carpets are stain resistant, easy to clean and great value. A practical choice for family homes, rental properties and high-traffic areas.
Wool-mix gives you the best of both — the feel and resilience of wool with the practicality of synthetic fibres. A popular middle ground for living rooms and stairs.
